Choosing the right wall box
I have a 3kW electricity-meter, do I have to buy a 3kw charger?
To buy such a low power charger is never a good idea. A modern charger such as Prism Solar already includes sensors to manage loads, to charge an electric car with the available energy at all times, that is the one that the house doesn’t consume, and to keep the electricity-meter from going off.
It is certainly a better idea to choose a 7.4 kW charger right away, even if the electricity-meter is 3 or 4.5 kW, so that it will not be necessary to replace the charger when the power of the meter is increased.
I have a 3kW / 4.5kW electricity-meter, do I have to upgrade it to 6kW?
No, it is not necessary, although it would be a good idea to have more power available. However, Prism can always regulate the amount of energy it transfers to the car based on the actual power available on the electricity meter. Moreover, to ask for an increase in power is becoming less and less expensive.
I have a three-phase system, should I choose Prism Three-phase?
You do not have to, but it would be a good idea:-). If the car has a single-phase home board charger (e.g. 7.4kW) it is possible to use a single-phase charger even if the electricity network and the meter are both three-phase. But.. what if you decide to replace your single-phase home board charger car with a three-phase home board charger one? It would be a shame to have to also replace Prism in order to use the new maximum power available, right?
I have a single-phase system, should I choose Prism Single-phase?
A Prism is usually chosen between single-phase or three-phase depending on the existing system but, from a technical point of view, it is possible to install Prism Three-phase on a single-phase system, but only by accepting the fact that Prism will only work in single-phase up to a maximum of 7.4 kW. This solution can be useful if you want to install a Prism Solar charger today in an existing single-phase system, knowing however that this system will soon be transformed into three-phase. When this happens it will not be necessary to replace Prism and the charge will be available in three-phase up to 22 kW.
Can I charge single-phase vehicles with a three-phase Prism?
Yes. Absolutely.
Is Prism compatible with all vehicles?
Prism is supplied with a cable of two different lengths and one (or two) Type 2 plugs. Therefore, it is compatible with all vehicles that have this kind of plug, which is the standard for electric vehicles in Europe.
The purchase
How to order
You can make your purchase on our online shop or, if you prefer, you can contact us at sales@silla.industries. For payment we accept PayPal, major credit cards and bank transfers.
Is it possible to get an invoice?
Of course! While ordering, you will be asked for the VAT number (if you are a company) or the tax code number (for individuals) in order to issue a regular invoice, which is essential to have access to any incentives.
Do Silla Products have a guarantee?
Of course! All our products are guaranteed for 24 months starting from the moment of purchase.
Installation
Does Prism’s price include installation?
No, installation is not included. However, Prism is really easy to install. Your electrician will surely be able to install it where you want him to. Moreover, we also have very clear installation instructions.
Can I install Prism myself?
No! No! Prism must be installed by a professional who can properly intervene on the electrical system. You can ask your trusted electrician to install Prism. He will certainly be able to perfectly place it following the instructions in our use and maintenance manual.
Can I install Prism in my garage?
Of course! And if you also connect an Ethernet network cable to Prism, you will have Wi-Fi connection in your garage. In fact, Prism also works as a hotspot and that can be useful for updating your electric car, for example.
Can I place Prism outside?
Yes, you can. The tests carried out showed that Prism reached IP65 protection rating. Therefore, it is entirely protected from rain and water jets.
Do I have to purchase the Smart Charge Kit in order to check the consumption and the energy supplied by the electricity-meter?
No. The Kit is already included in both Prism Solar (single- and three- phase) and Prism DUO. The sensors to be mounted downstream of the electricity-meter are also included. To connect them, only a shielded twisted pair with a minimum section of 0.25-0.5 mmq is required.
Does Prism work even without an internet connection?
Yes, it does. Obviously, since there is no Internet connection, you cannot have access to Prism from the outside, by the cloud. Therefore, both configuration and management must be done in the immediate proximity of Prism. Prism has its own WiFi signal which you can access by a smartphone (or laptop) for configuration and management procedures.
The use
Can Prism use the energy of my photovoltaic system?
Yes, it is. Prism has a specific mode, the so called Solarmode that can be selected from our WebAPP In this way Prism intercepts all the solar energy produced by the solar system and it compares it with the energy needed by the house. All the energy in surplus is used to recharge the electric car instead of being sold to the electric grid.
To charge the car requires too much energy, my electric panel is not going to support it
Prism always checks the power provided by your meter, that is the available maximum power. It compares it with your house consumption to supply the energy you are not using to charge the car: in this way the meter won’t go off because of overloads
The energy accumulators
Can Prism make it work between photovoltaic systems and storage batteries?
Yes, it can. Prism can use both the energy of PV system and the one of the storage. You can choose whether to use only self-produced energy (when it is available) or charge at the maximum power allowed by the car. If we consider the case of a 7,5 kW single-phase meter, Prism Can charge even with a 3 kW meter assuming that the photovoltaic and the storage will provide the 4,5 kW left.
You can also in install it so that it “ignores” the storage battery and in order to keep its energy only for the house.
In addition Prism can communicate with the Powerwall (compatibility with other systems will be added by)
