WITH PRISM SOLAR, THE HOME IS GREEN & SMART STARTING WITH THE GARAGE

Italian design in the service of sustainable mobility. Prism Solar from Silla Industries brings electric car charging to the home.

Padua, Nov. 21, 2022 – It is now a must in designer living and green living: the electric vehicle charging station is also entering an increasing number of Italian homes. This is confirmed by data collected by the latest Smart Mobility Report 2022: 70% of Italian electric drivers use a home charging point. In fact, our country is experiencing one of the highest growth rates, globally, when it comes to the installation of charging stations in private settings.

Equally interesting is the observation of the potential market in Italy: there are 11.5 million parking spaces that from a technical point of view are already ready to accommodate a home charging device (Source: SMR), a market with enormous potential, if we also consider the amount of investment planned at the European level by 2030, according to the most recent ACEA data, for the installation of charging points, public and domestic, the modernization of the electricity grid and the creation of capacity for renewable energy of about 280 billion euros. And the choice increasingly falls on Made in Italy hi tech items, with a well-developed focus on design.

Padua-based start-up Silla Industries knows something about this, and it has built its very rapid growth around its flagship product Prism Solar: a genuine made-in-Italy design element that synthesizes practicality, advanced technology and adaptable style.

A product capable, at the software level, of evolving with the progress of technology and new requirements in the field of electric charging: the Prism columns do not age and guarantee, in addition to charging one’s vehicle, numerous advantages.

By connecting to the Internet, they turn the garage into a Wi-Fi hotspot and can be managed remotely via the dedicated My Silla Cloud app, which allows the user to select the desired mode of use, and offers access to Prism configuration, usage statistics, charging session history, and ever new services.

The main feature of Prism Solar is its synergy with domestic photovoltaic systems, which allows it to better manage energy storage by fitting into a sustainable ecosystem for household consumption management. But at the same time, it can be the first element of a scaled-up system: In fact, Prism Solar can be inserted into a home without panels and storage and be ready to use the energy produced or stored by the implemented system one day.

It has three charging modes: Solar, which is possible exclusively with photovoltaics and allows people to recharge their electric cars for free without drawing from the grid; Normal, which recharges by drawing from the grid, according to the operator’s tariffs and preventing meter disconnection due to excessive absorption from the grid; and finally Night, scheduled charging and active only at night-when energy rates are lower-or on holidays.

In addition, the internet connection and the possibility of remote control make Prism Solar a suitable device to be included in the ARERA trial that allows the meter power to be increased up to 6kW at night and on holidays without operating on the meter itself and without increasing fixed costs.

Even on the installation front, the work, which must be done by an installer, is very unobtrusive: Prism Solar can be installed either indoors (of a box for example) or outdoors-the IP65 degree of protection certifies its resistance to rain or water jets-and can be activated only by the owner via app or RFID key. In case of multiple installations, clusters collecting up to 30 charging points can be organized.
