Disruptive and unprecedented, Prism Salt is born

The electric car charger that works powered by simple table salt

UPDATE: Happy April Fool’s Day! Thanks for messing around with us! The idea of refilling with salt wasn’t bad…was it? We teased the creativity of our R&D department again for this year’s April Fool’s Day … but, for now, Prism Salt remains a nice possibility!

Padua, April 1, 2024 – Silla Industries is proud to announce the launch of Prism Salt, the latest addition to its Prism Line. Prism Salt is an innovative charger for electric cars that uses salt technology, offering an efficient and environmentally friendly charging option for electric vehicles.

A technology that is ahead of its time if we think of the crucial need for countries such as Italy to make themselves autonomous in battery production and, consequently, exploit this advantage also in the daily use of resources. A condition that makes Prism Salt a project that is fully in line with the vision of the European Battery Alliance, which aims to create large-scale battery production in Europe by scaling up gigafactories that can produce gigawatt-hour quantities of capacity per year.

Prism Salt is distinguished by the use of ordinary sodium chloride (NaCl), or “table salt,” albeit with a high degree of purity so as not to affect the internal Prism cell containing it. This unique feature allows the user to independently replace the salt quickly and easily when exhausted.

The launch of Prism Salt comes at a time when the government, with Mimit, has kicked off the Italian Battery Alliance

A project of common European interest in the battery sector that supports research, development, and innovation activities along the entire value chain, from raw material extraction, to battery design and production, to recycling and feeding into the circular economy. The European Commission’s economic commitment dedicated to this issue is estimated to be close to €3 billion, and several battery manufacturers are approaching salt technologies.

Car manufacturers, such as Stellantis, are also looking at this technology with interest and plan to set up a dedicated production unit for the production of salt batteries.

I am very proud of this project, which we have been working hard on for the past 12 months and which represents a breakthrough in charging systems, helping to stabilize the electric grid and increase economic savings for users,” said Alberto Stecca, CEO of Silla Industries.

Prism Salt thus represents a significant step forward in the field of sustainable electric mobility solutions, opening up new prospects for a cleaner and more efficient future.
