Introduction
Smart Meter [SMAME] is the device that enables three-phase products to measure the consumption of the electrical system.
SMAME is critical in allowing three-phase Prism Solar to handle load balancing-that is, to automatically adjust charging power so as not to have the meter disconnected or to charge only with PV-generated energy that would otherwise be fed into the grid.
Smart Meter measures system consumption thanks to its sensors, called TAs (Current Transformers, which are nothing more than clamps that must be opened and closed around the electrical wires on which you want to measure consumption.
The Smart Meter is compatible with two types of sensors:
Version | Max Current (per phase) | Maximum cable diameter | Supply |
SENS100 | 100 A | 25 mm | Included with all three-phase Prisms |
SENS1000 | 1000 A | 50 mm | Accessory* |
* SENS1000 are available for purchase in our online shop.
Installation
Refer to the Installation Manual provided with Prism for Smart Meter installation.
Configuration
Prerequisites:
- A PC or Smartphone with which to do the configuration.
- Installation manual supplied with Prism (*).
- The manual contains the credentials needed to connect and access Prism.
How to configure the Smart Meter:
- Follow the instructions to Connect to the Local Dashboard.
- Access the Configuration Wizard
- Configure the required plant parameters.
- In the “Sensor downstream of the meter” section, select the type of sensor installed:
- Complete the configuration and click the “Next” button at the bottom of the page.
- Go to the bottom of the page and click “Go to Dashboard” to finish the configuration.
Use
Once entered completed the Prism configuration wizard is ready to use!
If configured correctly it will automatically adapt the charging power so as not to blow the meter or charge only with excess PV power if set to Solar Mode.
