The car extension cable you need to charge anywhere there’s a public AC charging station.
Public DC (direct current) charging stations always have a cable attached. AC (alternating current) ones don’t: to charge at a public AC station, you need to have your own cable on board. This is that cable.
With Type 2 connectors on both ends, the European standard for AC charging, it connects to the public charging station on one side and to the car on the other. Compatible with all electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids sold in Europe.
Single-phase or three-phase: choose the right cable for your car. The vehicle’s onboard charger determines the maximum power the car can receive. If your charger is single-phase, the 32A / 7.4 kW version is the right one. If your charger supports three-phase charging, the 32A / 22 kW version lets you make full use of three-phase charging stations.
A tip: if you currently have a single-phase car but are planning to change it in the future, buying the three-phase cable now is a forward-looking investment — it also works on single-phase charging stations, simply using a single phase.

Do I need to use this car cable when charging at home with Prism?
No. Prism already comes with a built-in 5 m or 7 m cable with a Type 2 connector. The car cable is designed for charging at public AC stations that don’t have their own cable.
How do I know if my car has a single-phase or three-phase charger?
This information is usually found in the vehicle’s manual or in the manufacturer’s technical data sheet. The most common models (Fiat 500e, Renault Zoe, entry-level VW ID.3/ID.4, etc.) have single-phase chargers. Higher-end or more recent models may have 11 or 22 kW three-phase chargers. If in doubt, the three-phase cable is the more versatile choice: it works on single-phase charging stations too.
Does a three-phase charging car cable also work with my single-phase car?
Yes. The three-phase cable has the same connectors as the single-phase one (Type 2 on both ends). If you connect it to a three-phase charging station but your car has a single-phase charger, the car will only use one phase and will charge at a maximum of 7.4 kW — exactly as with a single-phase cable. There’s no risk involved.
Does this cable work with my Tesla?
Tesla models sold in Europe are equipped with a Type 2 socket on the vehicle. The cable is compatible. Always check your specific model’s manual to confirm.
Can I also use this cable with my home Prism wallbox?
Prism already has a built-in cable, so there’s no need for an external cable.

How to use the car cable
Step 1: Always keep the cable on board the car. Store it in the trunk, in the dedicated compartment if your vehicle has one, or in a dedicated bag. Having it with you at all times lets you take advantage of any public AC charging station.
Step 2: At the public charging station, connect to the station first. Insert the Type 2 connector into the public charging station’s socket. On some stations, you need to start the session first (via app, card, or QR code) before plugging in the cable: check the instructions on the station.
Step 3: Connect the car. Insert the other Type 2 connector into the vehicle’s charging port. Charging starts automatically, or after confirming the start on the charging station (depends on the operator).
Step 4: When finished, disconnect from the car first, then from the charging station. Press the release button on the connector or unlock the session from the operator’s app. Rewind the cable carefully before putting it back in the trunk.
How to store the cable: Avoid coiling it too tightly or leaving it sharply bent for long periods. The two plugs have removable connector covers: use them to protect the plugs when the cable is stored.
