HOMER
Charge your electric car from any outlet. No installation, no electrician.

Homer is Silla Industries’ portable EV charger. It plugs into a standard Schuko outlet, goes wherever you go, and charges your electric car safely, with no fixed installation required. It’s the perfect solution for anyone who can’t or doesn’t want to install a wallbox, for second homes, for frequent travellers, or for anyone who wants an emergency solution always on hand.

Zero installation. Zero compromise on safety. Homer plugs into a standard Schuko outlet and intelligently manages the available power thanks to the Chain2 protocol. It communicates with the Open Meter through the home’s electrical wiring and automatically adjusts the charging current to prevent the meter from tripping. No additional sensors to install.

Delivers up to 3 kW, safely. In one night with the washing machine and air conditioner switched off, you can recover 20 kWh or more — enough for your electric car’s range.

Connected and smart. Homer includes a built-in GSM SIM (free connectivity for the first 24 months, renewable thereafter) and is controlled via the Silla app (iOS and Android, free). From the app you can start and stop charging, schedule charging times, monitor consumption, and receive notifications.

Built for travel. Homer fits in a backpack, weighs little, and works anywhere there’s a compliant Schuko outlet. On holiday, at family’s, at the office. The integrated Type 2 connector ensures compatibility with all electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles sold in Europe.

FAQ

Does Homer work with any Schuko outlet?

Yes. It’s designed to be compatible with any standard Schuko outlet, provided the electrical system is compliant and in good condition. If the outlet is old, loose, or lacks a proper earth connection, it’s advisable to have it checked by an electrician before use.

What’s the difference between Homer and a wallbox like Prism?

Homer is a plug & play charger: it connects to a Schuko outlet, requires no installation, and is portable. It delivers up to 3 kW. Prism is a fixed wallbox that requires installation by a qualified electrician, delivers significantly higher power (up to 22 kW three-phase), and offers advanced features. Homer is the ideal solution as a first approach to home EV charging, or for anyone who can’t install a wallbox.

Does Homer prevent the meter from tripping?

Yes. It communicates with the Open Meter through the existing electrical wiring and automatically reduces the charging current when other appliances increase consumption, preventing the circuit breaker from tripping. No additional sensors are required.

Can I use Homer even if I don’t have Wi-Fi?

Yes. It includes a pre-installed GSM SIM that ensures mobile network connectivity regardless of Wi-Fi availability. It’s ideal for second homes, isolated garages, or any location without a home network.

Can I schedule Homer to charge at night on a reduced tariff?

Yes. Using the Silla app, you can set charging within specific time slots, for example during off-peak night hours. You can also receive a notification when charging is complete.

Is Homer compatible with all electric cars?

It features a Type 2 connector (IEC 62196), the European standard for AC charging. It’s compatible with all battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) sold in Europe.

Do I need an electrician to use Homer?

No. It requires no installation and connects directly to a Schuko outlet. However, it’s advisable to have the electrical system checked if it’s outdated.

How long does it take to fully charge a car with Homer?

Charging time depends on the vehicle’s battery capacity. In practice, Homer recharges overnight the amount of range used during the day (typically 10–30 kWh).

What to do if...

How to do the first charge

Step 1: Plug Homer into the Schuko outlet. Insert Homer’s plug into a standard Schuko outlet. The outlet must be up to code, with a proper earth connection.
Step 2: Connect the Type 2 cable to the car. Insert the Type 2 connector into the vehicle’s charging port until you hear a confirmation click.
Step 3: Charging starts automatically. As soon as the vehicle is connected and Homer is powered, charging begins. Homer automatically checks the outlet’s condition and calibrates the charging current (up to 13 A / 3 kW).
Step 4: To stop charging: you can either unplug the connector directly from the car or stop charging from the Silla app.

How to set up the Silla app with Homer

The Silla app is free (iOS and Android) and lets you control Homer remotely, schedule charging sessions, and monitor consumption.

Step 1: download the Silla app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
Step 2: create a Silla account or sign in if you already have one.
Step 3: select “Add device” and choose “Homer” from the list.
Step 4: follow the guided setup in the app. You can connect Homer via:

  • Home Wi-Fi: during setup, Homer creates a temporary Wi-Fi network. Connect your phone to it and enter your home network credentials.
  • GSM: Homer includes a pre-installed SIM. If you don’t have Wi-Fi, the connection happens automatically via mobile network, with no configuration needed.

Step 5: once set up, Homer can be accessed from the app from anywhere.

How to schedule charging by time slot

From the Silla app:

  • Select Homer
  • Go to “Scheduling”
  • Set the start time (e.g. 11:00 PM) and end time (e.g. 7:00 AM).
  • Confirm. Homer will start charging automatically during that time window.

You can also set a one-off charge for the current night without creating a recurring schedule.

How Chain2 automatic balancing works

Homer monitors the home’s instantaneous consumption via Chain2, communicating with the Open Meter through the existing electrical wiring, with no additional sensors.

In practice:

  • If you turn on the washing machine, oven, or other heavy loads while Homer is charging, Homer automatically reduces the charging current to prevent the meter from tripping.
  • When the loads decrease, Homer increases the current again up to the maximum available (13 A).
  • You don’t need to do anything: it all happens automatically.

Note: Chain2 requires a 2G meter (Open Meter). If your meter is an older generation, Homer still works, but Chain2’s dynamic balancing won’t be active. In that case, you can manually set a conservative current limit from the app.

What to do if the outlet overheats

If Homer detects abnormal overheating of the outlet during charging, it automatically stops power delivery for safety.

What to do:

  • Unplug Homer from the outlet.
  • Let the outlet cool down for at least 30 minutes.
  • Visually inspect the outlet: if it’s blackened, loose, or shows signs of melting, don’t reuse it and have it replaced by an electrician.
  • If the outlet appears to be in good condition, you can try again. If the problem recurs, the outlet may have high impedance and not be suited to a continuous load: have it checked by an electrician.

How to use Homer away from home or while traveling

Homer is designed to be taken anywhere. It works with any standard, code-compliant Schuko outlet.

Practical travel tips:

  • Always check that the available outlet is compatible.
  • In holiday homes or accommodation facilities, prefer outlets dedicated to heavy loads (kitchen, laundry).
  • If you don’t have Wi-Fi, Homer automatically uses the GSM connection to stay connected to the app.
  • You can also use Homer abroad in countries that use the Schuko outlet (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, etc.).
