Prism Solar single-phase shares the same basic characteristics with the other Prism products. Different models differ in the type of power supply (single-phase or three-phase).
Prism Solar single-phase – technical features:
It is suitable for any single-phase meter, of any power.
This means that it can also be connected to electric meters with lower power (e.g 3kW), so it will still allow the management of the charge of an electric car, obviously, only up to the maximum power supplied by the meter. But if you decide to boost the power of the electric-meter, your Prism Solar will already be able to handle the new amount of power.
It automatically regulates the consumption to avoid disconnection from the grid (blackouts at home).
Regardless of the electric-meter installed, single-phase Prism Solar automatically regulates the power provided to the car, measuring the energy absorbed by the rest of the house. In this way, the electric-meter does not have to intervene because of overloads caused by the charge of your electric car.Prism will never leave you without electricity at home; a load-balancing sensor is supplied with Prism.
It uses the energy produced by a solar system to recharge the car.
If you have a photovoltaic system you already know that the energy that it produces in excess is sent to the electricity grid. Single-phase Prism Solar can detect this surplus production and use it to charge your car instead of giving it away to the grid.
It is equipped with a 5mt Type2 connector cable.
Type 2 connectors are the standard in Europe. Meaning: no compatibility problems;
It can be managed with a smartphone, a computer and/or the cloud.
Prism has to be connected to the internet via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi (if the Wi-Fi signal can reach the space where Prism is installed). And even if Prism cannot be connected to the internet, it is always possible to configure it and use to its internal Wi-Fi.
It works as a Hotspot for the Wi-Fi network.
It is possible to use Prism as a Hotspot when Prism is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable. It is useful to update the firmware of the car while it is recharging.
It includes an RFID reader under the front cover.
It also comes with two RFID keys to be used in order to start the charge in situations when it is not possible (or desired) for it to start automatically.
It is already equipped with a RCM (Residual Current Monitor).
It is not necessary to add a protection for AC/DC current while installing Prism since it already has it. It ensures maximum safety and minimizes installation costs.
It can be installed outdoors and is not afraid of contact with water.
Like all components in the Prism range, the loader can be installed outdoors. Prism does not fear exposure to liquid intrusion and/or solid particles (such as dust).
This is thanks to a specially designed cover design. In fact, the body of the cover is closed by as many as 12 screws, protecting the most sensitive electronic parts.
The IP65 rating indicates that the device is fully protected against the ingress of dust, sand and generally any small solid body, as well as against strong jets of water.

FAQ
Can I use Prism Solar even if I don’t have a photovoltaic system?
Yes. Solar mode is an additional feature, not a requirement. Without a photovoltaic system, Prism Solar works as a complete smart wallbox: you can manage it from the app, schedule charging during the cheapest time slots, monitor consumption, and use RFID. If you install a solar system in the future, the wallbox will already be ready to integrate with it.
How does the photovoltaic integration work?
Prism Solar measures the power produced by the solar panels and the power consumed by the house in real time, via the CT sensor installed at the meter. The “excess” energy is automatically directed to the car’s charging. If solar production decreases, the charging power reduces proportionally. The result is near-zero-cost charging during sunny hours.
Is Prism Solar compatible with my energy storage system?
Prism Solar is compatible with several energy storage systems, including Tesla Powerwall. For the up-to-date list of compatible systems, see the full list.
Can I install Prism Solar Single-phase on a three-phase system?
Yes. Prism Solar Single-phase can be installed on a three-phase system by connecting it to a single phase. For the technical details on this configuration, see this page.
How does Prism Solar connect to the internet?
You can connect Prism Solar via Wi-Fi or via an Ethernet cable, depending on where the wallbox is installed. An internet connection is required for remote app control and to receive OTA firmware updates.
What is the OCPP protocol and what is it for?
OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) is the international standard for communication between wallboxes and centralized management systems. It’s useful in professional settings (offices, hotels, condominiums) where you want to integrate the wallbox with a monitoring or payment platform. For private home use it isn’t necessary, but it is available.
Can I install multiple Prism Solar units in a cluster to share power?
Yes. Prism Solar supports cluster installation: multiple charging stations connected to each other and to the meter intelligently share the available power. This configuration is ideal for condominiums, businesses, or facilities with multiple parking spaces.
How to...
Step 1: Connect the cable to the car. Insert the Type 2 connector into the vehicle’s charging port until you hear a confirmation click.
Step 2.1: If the mode is “Free” (no authentication): Charging starts automatically. The LEDs on the wallbox switch to the “Charging” state.
Step 2.2: If the mode is “RFID” (with authentication): The LED flashes while waiting for authentication. Tap the keyfob or RFID card on the marked area on the front panel. At the light and sound signal, charging starts.
Step 3: To stop charging: Press the touch button 3 times. The LEDs switch to the “Pause” state. To resume, press 3 times again.
LED guide: what they’re telling you
| LED status | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Slow flashing green | Standby: wallbox disconnected from the car | Connect the cable to the vehicle |
| Solid green / touch button | Charging: power from the grid | No action required |
| Solid yellow | Charging: 100% solar power | Great! You’re charging for free |
| Slow flashing yellow | Charging paused | Press touch 3x to resume |
| Flashing white | Waiting for RFID authentication | Tap card or keyfob |
| Solid blue | OTA firmware update in progress | Don’t switch off the wallbox |
| Solid red | Sensor error (three-phase only) | Check Smart Meter connection |
| Fast flashing red | Generic error | Contact support |
Full guide
Charging modes
Boost mode. Prism charges the car using power from the grid, adjusting the power based on household loads so as not to exceed the meter’s limit. This is the standard mode.
OnlySun mode. Prism uses only the energy produced by the solar panels to charge the car. Charging adapts in real time to solar production: if the sun decreases, the power reduces proportionally. If there isn’t enough solar energy, charging automatically pauses so as not to draw from the grid.
How to schedule night charging (time slot)
From the Silla app:
Open the app and select your Prism Solar.
Go to “Settings” or “Scheduling”.
Enable “Night” mode or create a custom time schedule.
Set the start time (e.g. 11:00 PM) and the end time (e.g. 7:00 AM).
Confirm. From now on, Prism will automatically start charging during that time slot, taking advantage of lower rates.
How to use RFID authentication
If you’ve enabled RFID mode, only someone with a paired card or keyfob can start charging.
To enable charging:
Connect the cable to the car.
The LEDs indicate “Waiting for authentication” (flashing white).
Tap the RFID card or keyfob on the marked area on the front panel.
At the light and sound signal, charging starts.
To stop authenticated charging: Tap the RFID card on the same area again.
What to do if Prism’s Wi-Fi is no longer visible
If the Wi-Fi network created by Prism during setup is no longer visible:
Check that Prism is powered (LEDs on).
Try restarting it by disconnecting and reconnecting the power.
If the problem persists, read the dedicated guide
