Prism Basic incorporates all the essential functions for charging an electric car:

  • 230V single-phase version, for charging powers up to 7.4kW (depending on the meter to which it is connected)
  • It is supplied with a 5mt cable (even if you park the car with the charging door far from Prism, the cable still reaches the car)
  • It is suitable for any single-phase electric-meter, of any power (a 3kW meter is enough and when you boost the power of the electricity-meter, Prism Basic will be ready to provide even more power)
  • It automatically regulates consumption to avoid electric grid disconnection (you will never have to reset the electricity-meter because of excessive absorption)
  • Supplied with 5-meter cable and Type2 connector (the standard in Europe)
  • Supplied with the sensor required for load balancing
  • Upgradeable to Prism Solar even at times after purchase, getting all the functions of a Prism Solar by simply replacing the supplied front cover with a Smart Cover (available as a separate accessory)
  • Resistant to rain and water jets, IP65 protection rating

Prism Basic single-phase have many of the basic characteristics that the other range of Prism products have. In its compact and elegant prism-shaped container it incorporates the essential functions of a wall charger designed for an electric car.

Prism Basic single-phase – technical features:

It is suitable for any single-phase meter, of any power.
this means that it can also be connected to meters of lower power (e.g., 3kW) while still allowing the management of the charging of an electric car although, of course, only up to the maximum power delivered by the meter in the system. But if you decide to boost the power of the electric-meter, your Prism Basic will already be able to handle the new amount of power.

Automatically adjusts consumption to avoid disconnection from the grid.
regardless of the installed meter Prism Basic Single-phase automatically adjusts the power sent to the car, measuring the energy absorbed by the rest of the house, so that the meter never intervenes for overloads due to your electric car, avoiding leaving you in the dark. a load-balancing sensor is supplied with Prism.

It has a built-in cable with Type2 connector.
Type 2 connectors are in fact the standard in Europe, no compatibility issues. the supplied cable is 5mt, so it can reach your electric car even when parked with the charging flap far from the wall.

It is already equipped with RCM (Residual Current Monitor).
there’s no need to add this type of protection for AC / DC current during its installation because every Prism Basic single-phase already has it in order to ensure maximum safety and to minimize installation costs; We don’t “save” on safety.

It is upgradeable to Prism Solar Single-Phase.
even long after purchase and installation Prism Basic can be upgraded to Prism Solar Single-Phase, gaining all its technical features, simply by replacing the supplied front cover with a Smart Cover (sold as an accessory). Why does this come in handy? Well, after buying a Prism Basic, if you decide to add a photovoltaic system or an internet connection for Prism, the investment you made when purchasing Prism Basic was not in vain.

note:
Single-phase Prism Basic has everything you need to charge an electric car, but it lacks the electronics to manage the extra amount of energy produced by a photovoltaic system and it lacks internet connection (both Wi-Fi and ethernet cable), so it cannot be remotely managed. These features can be added later by purchasing a RFID Smart Cover. These features can be added later by purchasing a RFID Smart Cover.

FAQ

Is Prism Basic suitable for my 3 kW meter?
Yes. Prism
Basic is compatible with any single-phase meter, even lower-power ones like 3 kW. Thanks to automatic load balancing, the wallbox reduces the power delivered to the car whenever other household appliances increase consumption, preventing the meter from tripping. When you upgrade to a higher power in the future, Prism Basic will already be ready to deliver more, with no modifications needed.

Does Prism Basic include the load-balancing sensor?
Yes. The current
clamp (CT sensor) is included in the package and must be installed at the home’s meter. It allows the wallbox to measure in real time the energy absorbed by other household loads and adjust charging accordingly.

Can I upgrade Prism Basic to Prism Solar in the future?
Yes. At any time, even
years after installation, you can purchase the Smart Cover for Prism Basic and replace the front cover. You’ll get all the features of Prism Solar: Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, app management, photovoltaic integration, RFID, and time-slot scheduling.

What upstream electrical protections do I need to install?
According to section 722 of the CEI 64-8 standard, Prism Basic must be installed with a Type A 30 mA RCD and a Type C 32 A circuit breaker. The RCM (Residual Current Monitor) is already built into the wallbox, so there’s no need to add specific external protection for AC/DC current, which reduces installation costs.

Does Prism Basic work with my electric car?
Prism
Basic uses the Type 2 connector (IEC 62196), the European standard for AC charging. It’s compatible with all electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) sold in Europe, including Volkswagen, Renault, Tesla, BMW, Hyundai, Kia, Fiat, Toyota, Volvo, and many others.

Can I install Prism Basic myself?
No. Italian regulations
require that the installation of a wallbox be carried out by a qualified electrician, who issues the Declaration of Conformity (DOC) upon completion. Silla offers a turnkey installation service: https://silla.industries/installazione-a-regola-d-arte/

Can Prism Basic be mounted on an outdoor pole?
Yes. A Silla support pole is
available for ground mounting, allowing you to install Prism Basic even away from a wall. Check compatibility with your installer.

How to...

How to charge your car with Prism Basic

Prism Basic is the simplest wallbox in the range: no modes to select, no app required, no authentication. Plug in and charge.

Step 1: Take the connector from the wallbox body. The 5 m cable is built into the body of Prism Basic. To pull it out, unwind the cable from the side channel.

Step 2: Insert the Type 2 connector into the car’s socket. The connector fits into the vehicle’s charging port with a confirmation “click”. Make sure it’s properly latched.

Step 3: Charging starts automatically. You don’t need to press anything. As soon as the connector is inserted and the vehicle is ready to accept charging, Prism Basic starts delivering power.

Step 4: To disconnect the cable, press the release button on the connector or on the vehicle’s socket (depends on the car model). Then rewind the cable into Prism Basic’s side channel.

How automatic load balancing works

Prism Basic constantly monitors how much energy the other household appliances are drawing, via the current clamp installed at the meter.

What happens when you switch on a high-consumption appliance? If you start the washing machine or the oven while charging the car, Prism Basic automatically reduces the power sent to the vehicle, so that the total consumption doesn’t exceed your meter’s limit. The circuit breaker will never trip.

What happens when the appliance switches off? Prism Basic detects the power that’s become available again and increases charging accordingly, up to the maximum allowed. All of this happens without you having to do anything.

How to upgrade Prism Basic to Prism Solar

If you want to add connectivity, app control, and photovoltaic integration in the future, you don’t need to replace the wallbox.

Step 1: Purchase the Smart Cover for Prism Basic from the Silla shop. Step 2: Remove Prism Basic’s front cover by unscrewing the fixing screws. Step 3: Fit the Smart Cover in place of the original cover. Step 4: Follow the guided setup procedure described in the Smart Cover manual.

Prism Basic effectively becomes a Prism Solar Single-phase: same unit, new features.

What to do in case of a malfunction

If charging stops unexpectedly or doesn’t start:

  1. Check that the cable is properly connected both to the wallbox and to the vehicle.
  2. Check that the upstream circuit breaker (RCD) hasn’t tripped.
  3. Check that the vehicle isn’t in charging-locked mode (some models require unlocking the doors or disabling protection from the display).
  4. If the problem persists, open a support request: https://silla.industries/centro-assistenza/
